NAMEC and CME Industry Related News.

    The National Association of Medical Education Companies (NAMEC) is pleased to announce the 2022 Board of Directors. The members of the 2022 board are:

    • Kurt Boyce, President
    • Andrea Funk, President-Elect
    • Board of Directors
      • John McCormick
      • David Mullins
      • Meg Oliverio, MD
      • Karen Overstreet, EdD, RPh, FACEHP, CHCP
      • Debi Susalka
      • Tricia Wilson, MS 

    Each director’s term is a three-year term with staggered start and end dates based on when they were elected.  New board members include Meg Oliverio, Karen Overstreet, and Debi Susalka whose terms will run through January 2025. 

    About NAMEC

    The Mission of NAMEC is to:

    Represent the interests of medical education companies (MECs), including advocacy for MECs and education of the professionals who work for them.

    Support the advancement of certified education as an integral part of the healthcare community in improving patient health outcomes.

    Foster increased collaboration among certified education stakeholders in a manner of mutual support, professionalism, and respect.

    Advocate, demonstrate, and support the value of certified education.

    The Goals of the association are to:

    Serve as a forum for discussion of issues, challenges, and opportunities relevant to both MECs and the certified education enterprise as a whole.

    Strengthen relationships among MECs and other certified education stakeholders.

    Facilitate educational activities dedicated specifically to the needs of NAMEC members.

    Disseminate information, publish papers and issue statements that support the continuing professional activities produced by MECs.

    Represent MECs and the certified education enterprise to the media, governmental agencies, and other outside organizations.

    Direct activities that elevate the best practices of the certified education enterprise.

    Dear NAMEC Colleagues:

    The NAMEC Awards Committee will begin accepting nominations for the 17th Annual NAMEC Best Practice Awards on Wednesday, November 3rd. NAMEC encourages all member organizations to submit one or more a nominations. Criteria and nomination processes are included in this release.

    This year NAMEC will recognize outstanding achievement in the following categories:

    • Best Practice in CME Outside of the USA (Live or Enduring)
    • Best Practice in Collaboration Among CME Stakeholders
    • Best Practice in Enduring Material Educational Design
    • Best Practice in Innovative Educational Methods
    • Best Practice in Learner Outcomes
    • Best Practice in Live On-Site Activity Educational Design
    • Best Practice in Live Virtual Activity Educational Design
    • Brian P. Russell Exemplary CME Professional Award

    CME is an industry rooted in change, a profession that calls upon our abilities to recognize and address new challenges. It requires us to utilize our intellect, our diligence, and our creativity. We believe that application of these attributes should be acknowledged.

    Nominations should be received no later than 11:59 PM EST on Monday, December 6, 2021. Please send your recommendations to NAMEC at kboyce@appliedcme.com.

    Contribute your educational leadership to the ACCME 2022 Meeting. ACCME is accepting proposals for its April 26-28, 2022 annual meeting, which will take place as a hybrid event—both in-person at the Sheraton Chicago as well as online. Opportunities include proposing an “Inspire and Teach” breakout session(s) for either the live or virtual audience, sharing a CME research project(s), or proposing a working group to tackle a challenge for CE professionals.  Visit the ACCME’s website for more information, including rules and details for submission. The deadline for submissions is Friday, November 5, 2021.

    The National Association of Medical Education Companies (NAMEC), announced the winners to the 14th annual NAMEC Best Practices Awards to improve Continuing Medical Education (CME). 

    CME is an industry rooted in change, a profession that calls upon our abilities to recognize and address new challenges. It requires us to utilize our intellect, our diligence, and our creativity. NAMEC believes that each of these elements should be acknowledged. NAMEC congratulates the 2020 award winners for Best Practices in CME. 

    The award category NAMEC Best Practice in Enduring Material Educational Design was presented to Pri-Med Institute for “What a Headache! The Case of a 29-year-old Woman with Worsening Migraine”.

    NAMEC Best Practice in Virtual Live Activity Educational Design was presented to Pri-Med Institute for “PrimaryCareNOW”. 

    NAMEC Best Practice in Learner Outcomes was presented to the Academy for Continued Healthcare Learning for “Personalizing Outcomes Measures to Effectively Assess Impact of Medical Education”.

    NAMEC Best Practice in Collaboration Among CME Stakeholders was presented to Medscape Education for “Optimizing Rare Disease Education: Bringing Together Multiple Stakeholders During the COVID-19 Pandemic”.

    NAMEC Best Practice in Innovative Educational Methods was presented to Pri-Med Institute for “Highs & Lows: Opportunities and Benefits of Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Primary Care (An Adaptive Learning Experience)”

    NAMEC Best Practice in CME Outside of the USA was presented to the Academy for Continued Healthcare Learning for “Classroom to Clinic™ Localized Small Group Learning for HCPs Working in Oncology” and to CME Outfitters for “Real-World Evidence: CDK 4/6 Inhibitors in Hormone Receptor-Positive Metastatic Breast Cancer”.

    Finally, the NAMEC Brian P. Russell Exemplary CME Professional Award was presented to Katie Lucero, PhD, Medscape Education.

    NAMEC appreciates all members and companies who submitted for consideration of these awards.  The 2021 Best Practices awards will be requested later this year and we encourage companies that have qualifying project to consider becoming a member to be eligible to submit for an award.
